Halloween 5k Race

I got to run a Halloween 5k this weekend in Whittier. Runners got the chance to dress up in costumes for a chance to win awards.

(My costume, tribute to Jack Skellington)

I didn't win any awards other than the medal itself that was handed out to all the runners.
I was hoping to place atleast 3rd in my age division but I didn't.
I was surprised to discover that your literally running up a hill half of the run. So for about a mile and a half I was dragging myself to just try to get to a mile mark. It was brutal but somehow I finished at about 38 minutes. Will I ever run it again? Probably not. I really dislike running hills, period.

(The tasty breakfast)

It was a family friendly atmosphere though and I did enjoy that aspect of it.
After the race they served the runners a pancake breakfast. That was fun too.
Here are some of my favorite costume prize winners.

Here's the link incase anyone's interested for next year.

EMILY THE STRANGE DIY COSTUME

This year I put together my own costume with some stuff I already had around the house. In total the costume only cost me about $18 dollars rounded out.

What you'll need if you want to cosplay EMILY THE STRANGE-
*A BLACK wig WITH bangs. (I bought from Wally's World for 6 bucks)
*A BLACK thigh high sleeveless dress. (Bought mine from ROSS for about 12 bucks)
*Mary Jane shoes either in black or white.
*BLACK leggings.
*A BLACK stuffed plush cat.
The makeups super easy. Black eyeliner- liquid and pencil. The lightest foundation you own or white face paint.
If you need a guide for makeup to look at her image here's the Emily the Strange FACEBOOK page-

The wig was a pain but what did I expect from a cheap wig. It was suppose to be straight but came out wavy  from the packaging and the bangs were wonky. I had to trim them to the right length. Everything else I already owned except for the dress. I had to buy one since non of my old ones fit me anymore.

Disneyland's Halloween Not So Scary Party!!!

We got hooked up with super cheap tickets thanks in part to my friend's sister in law. $40 dollars for each ticket where normally a regular ticket is about a hundred and you get to get into both parks on a regular day. For the Halloween Party you can only enter the main Disneyland park, which is perfectly fine by me. We got to go in 3 hours prior to the event. With those extra 3 hours we got to ride a couple rides and eat some delicious Disneyland food. I'm not just bragging but they have some good fried chicken that you can not go wrong getting:) accompanied with mashed potatoes and green beans.
What can be better then dressing up in a costume in the most awesomest park? Getting candy inside of course!
We only got in 6 lines and walked away with 4 bags (that they give you at entrance to use to trick or treat inside) completely full of good name brand candies and chocolates! Our bags were so heavy our arms were hurting from the weight by the end of the night.
We got to also see a special Halloween parade where all the characters were dressed in their Halloween costumes. We got to take pictures with them in different locations throughout the park.
The best part of the night, if everything else wasn't enough, were the fireworks. It was the best firework display that I have ever seen in all the years that I've been an annual pass holder. I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't had the chance to experience this event, but here's a hint- if you love Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas you will be in awe:)

Disneyland's Halloween Party Tickets

I'm super excited!!! We have Disneyland tickets for the Halloween Not So Scary Party Event! I looked them up online out of curiosity and people are paying mad money for them on eBay. No joke! Over 300 dollars for a pair! I'm so glad my friend's sister in law got them for us mega cheap thanks to the fact that she works there:)
This will be my second year attending. I got our costumes for us a couple weeks back. Will post pictures up when we go to the event.
